Roads & Bridges

We (Tad and Mike) have met with the county engineer and there is no agreement for the county to maintain roads and bridges or plow snow through 2026. 

To replace a red flag bridge (the worst possible shape of an operational bridge) starts at 1 million dollars. Should the merger pass we will assume responsibility for all county roads and bridges including the one or two red flag bridges in our area. If we remain as a township they remain county responsibility.

The only way that the county can perform road and bridge maintenance is with a resolution from the county commissioners. 

The burden of proof that the county is going to step up to take care of the roads for the new village is on the vote yes side. 

We have not seen written documentation proving the county will continue plowing snow, paving and maintaining roads and bridges for the entire 2026 year. Is an entire year a short term transitional period?
