Merger Commission Influence

Everyone on the St. Albans Township & Village of Alexandria Merger Commission is a proponent of the merger. The people that got together as a group to put the commission idea on ballot in 2023 to push this forward appear to be like minded.

We reviewed those statements and there are some highlighted comments that indicate the willingness of the group to tax the township base as a way to grow budgetary resources. 

We anticipate that the merger commission would dominate the new or merged village council ballot. Of the 7 up for election, 4 of them are ex-merger commission members. With 3 open spots available - who do you think the council will appoint to fill them? Will we have balanced representation from all viewpoints?

We have serious concerns about the township’s ability to be represented should the merger pass.
