Agricultural Restrictions
According to ORC 519.21 and 519.01 (Farms)
This law strictly and clearly protects farmers and landowners by not allowing township trustees, zoning boards, or zoning appeals boards from having ANY authority/ power on how land is used for agricultural purposes including structures, setbacks and any animal husbandry.
But under a municipality or city there is NO protection from a village or city council to mandate and control as they wish.
Too many restrictions will make it harder for our farmers to survive. If municipal rules keep changing, farm families live under too much risk and constant threat.
Investing in barns, equipment, or infrastructure becomes unlikely when the cost of doing business could shift at any moment.
Without stability, our farms are at risk.
